What a Resourcing Partner does: interview with Coby Drage

Anthony Haynes writes: A pivotal role in our recruitment process is that of Resourcing Partner (RP). Here we introduce our very own RP, Coby Drage (pictured).

AH: What's your role?

CD: My job title is Resourcing Partner which, at its most basic, means that I resource candidates for our clients’ vacancies.

AH: What does your work look like in practice?

CD: I spend lots of time every day talking to and listening to clients and candidates. Luckily, our clients and candidates are hugely intelligent and interesting people, who are a pleasure to talk to and listen to!

I discuss roles with our clients and our candidates, explore what candidates are looking for in their next roles and whether the vacancies we hold are a good match for their skills and motivators.

I set up interviews, help our candidates prepare for interviews, and debrief after interviews.

We support our candidates and clients right through the process of taking a role on.

AH: What are the satisfactions of the role? What gives you the biggest buzz?

CD: I suppose the obvious ‘big buzz’ is when I get to call and tell candidates they have been successful -- whether that means being shortlisted, invited to a second interview, or offered a role.

But a quieter, and equally satisfying buzz comes from feeling like I’ve supported someone through a process.

I remember that when I was interviewed for my role here at FJ Wilson, I was just so struck by the massive support I felt from all of the staff I had contact with: I knew immediately that they did things differently here and I wanted to be a part of that.

AH: What skills do you find yourself deploying most?

CD: I think that my genuine interest in people is the key skill I bring, exploring what excites a candidate or what a client is looking for that can’t be articulated in a job description. Finding those matches between candidates and clients gives me a real kick.

AH: What about Coby Drage outside FJWTS?

Outside work I enjoy hanging out with my husband, our teenage son, and our dog. We live a fairly quiet life in a quiet village!

I have older children and grandchildren too and love going to stay with them whenever I get the chance and catching up on cuddles with my grandchildren.
